A rare delivery crate from the U.S. Circa early to mid 20th century.
Being made from thick cardboard,  these rarely survived, this one not only did just that but part of its history was a journey across the ocean to end up in the UK. 
It is roughly 80 years old and would have originally had a lid. 
It would have been used to deliver chocolate sweets to the confectioner and the contents would have been decanted into a jar for display. 
A great piece for the kitchen, fabulous in a corner or on a table or in the pantry, with fruit and vegetables stored in it. Alternatively, place a dish in the base and stand a plant in it.
