Very Rare Beautifully Carved Antique Georgian Gout Stool Circa 1700’s
This is a beautiful and rare antique country house piece.
Dating from the Georgian period it is a gout stool, gout was a common ailment amongst the landed gentry at the time and these stools were much used!
It is rare in that it has ornately carved sides, as opposed to the more commonly found solid sided examples. Another attribute is the fact that it has been gilded, which is again rare.
It would have had small bun feet to the base, they have been removed at some point in its’s history, probably to facilitate it being wall hung.
I have displayed it amongst artwork, as we regard it as a piece of art in its own right, however, it would look fabulous hung beside a fireplace until it is required to rest your feet on whilst sitting in your favourite arm chair!
