19th-century (early to mid) French handmade copper sieve which has been plated and has hand punched holes.
 
Would typically have been used in a chateau kitchen, probably for jam or cheese making, however it would also have had many other uses. This is a lovely heavy piece and is very decorative. It’s got a ring for hanging, or will stand on its edge.
