A fascinating piece of folk art history, part of it tells its own story. 
The oval bentwood box contains some papers from 1700’s and earlier. It has a hand written label in beautiful handwriting stating 
“Important Writings”
The box itself is antique Scandinavian  and dates from early 1840’s. The papers are English and one of them actually explains that the oval box containing papers was given to a certain Mr Rob Hewitt, on 16th June 1843. 
These boxes were commonly used in Scandinavia as food boxes in the pantry, for storing keepsakes or legal papers. 
The box and the contents are the items you are purchasing, the papers that the box is sitting on are for staging only
