This is a really fabulous and unique decorative piece. 
Its proper use is as Die or Cutter. It was used in a glove factory. The leather was laid flat and then this would be laid on top of the fabric, a heavy machine would then push it down and cut the shape of glove from the leather ready to be stitched. 
It was manufactured by Ashley Brothers of Yeovil, so a fantastic piece of British manufacturing and a very unique wall display and conversation piece.
