Regency Period Ladies Face Protector
£0.00Price
English late Georgian, regency period.
A truly beautiful thing.
These were used to guard the ladies faces from the heat of the fire (hence the crazing) when the gentry sat in their grand armchairs to chat by the fireplace.
When we found it, the peacock couldn’t be seen, however after a little gentle cleaning, it emerged in all its splendour. The handle is turned and finished with bone. The decoration is hand painted!
