The perfect little late Victorian stool for perching on to put your shoes on.
This would have worked hard in a shoe shop where, the assistant would have sat on the flat bit and the customer would have placed their feet on the slope to have some shiny new shoes fitted. 
 
Small enough for a smaller hallway or alternatively a great little foot stool at the right angle to support your feet whilst working on a laptop!
