Rare Vintage Burton’s of Nottingham Confectionery Transportation Case
This antique confectionery transportation case came from Burton’s of Smithy Row, Nottingham, (see pics). In their time they were likened to Fortnum and Mason’s and were well known for their fabulous window displays. This case would have likely been used to transport sweet treats for the company, though I’m unsure where to, possibly to local hotels or restaurants. The cases were made by Venesta Ltd, London from 1898 to 1901, before changing to aluminium instead of wood. It would now make great storage in an office or for bits and pieces in a crafting room. The internal drawers are useful, whilst the outer case a quirky piece of history, with strong typography.
