These are a rare set of Victory V scales, which were made by the famous British scale manufacturer, Salter.
 
They were most likely used in a sweet shop on the counter.
 
The body is toleware painted to resemble wood and the dish is enamel. It has an incredible aged patina and is still highly decorative and interesting. The weighing mechanism still works, however though all the numbers are still there, some are not easily read. These would really be perfect as part of a vignette or as a decorative prop. Or to keep your fruit in.
 
They haven’t had the care they deserved over their lifetime, however they’re still attractive and deserve to live on.
