This is a glorious and rare Victorian desk tidy incorporating a perpetual calendar. 
The tambour cover is operated by opening the drawer, and closes when the drawer is pushed shut. 
Inside the drawer is another compartment under the pen tray. The carved ledge at the top creates the perpetual calendar using the day date and month cards that are all complete.
