This is a gloriously stunning black lacquered Chinoiserie sewing table from the 19th Century in excellent condition, with Mother of Pearl inlays and beautifully hand painted decoration.
 
The demi-lune underslung drawer opens up to reveal a removable tray containing various silk covered, lidded compartments. The underside of each lid showing the original colour that the silk would have been. The needle books are still present and in one there are still some needles. Some of the lids in the tray have the handles missing and so, some damage to the silk cover, understandable for the great age of this piece. 
 
The patina on the table top is the most amazing crackle finish.
 
This would make a beautiful lamp table, the colours and Mother of Pearl would shine in the lamp light.
