A lovely vintage crate originally from the Lever Brothers soap factory at Port Sunlight in Liverpool.
 
The crate would have been used for delivery of blocks of soap to shops and businesses.
 
It was Lever Brothers who originally started selling soap in the hand sized blocks that we know today, before that they were big blocks that pieces were cut from, so they started to manufacture them in a useable easier sellable size. They did that in both face soap and washing soap.
