A stunning black bijouterie table, from the late 19th century.

Bijouterie tables are also known as vitrines. Introduced in 18th century France they became popular in the 19th century when they were also copied in England at a time when the Louis XV style was very much in vogue.

A bijouterie is a pretty side table, designed to store small valuable items such as silver or jewellery. It has a hinged lockable lid. They were decorated with ormolu mounts as is this example.

Measurements: 36cm diameter table top. Spread of legs 49cm Height 84cm high.
