These guys are vintage Kokeshi dolls. ▪️ They are thought to be originally made as guardians for children. From the Northeastern region. They are typically simple wooden dolls with no arms or legs. Hand painted commonly in black, red and yellow, though can also have purple, green or blue too. ▪️
Each one is signed by the artist on the base. Most of the traditional Kokeshi dolls are made from the cherry or Mizuki tree. ▪️
They are very decorative and I really want to keep one myself. . . ▪️
