This is a nice example of the Hadrill and Horstmann counterbalance lamp.
 
It fits on a table or shelf with a clamp fitting and has a long reach when it is outstretched. Complete with the original in-line switch along the cable to turn it on and off, which is shown in the images and is in good working order.
 
The lamp has been rewired and PAT tested.
