A gorgeous turned wood (Treen) string caddy, made from lignum vitae, unusually with a string catcher/cutter in the lid. 
The lid and the base unscrew to place the string in. 
It has had some historic repairs made to it and has some age related wear, only to be expected with its great age, which doesn’t detract from its beauty and usefulness in our opinion. 
Circa Mid 1800’s. 
Natural twine ball included. 
A wonderfully unusual gift for a crafter or gardener or someone that just loves string or treen.
