This is a 19th century French zinc finial commonly found on roofs.

Gloriously tall, making a fabulous statement and a conversation piece as the holes shown in the photographs are where someone has used it for target practice! The holes are to one small de, so do not have to be seen.

It has losses due to its long age, however nothing that takes away from how striking it is.
