These would have formed a finial around the ridge of a roof. Purely for decorative purposes! 
They are the epitome of french architecture and would add a lovely touch to a French inspired decor, or perfect for the interiors lover that likes the unusual. 
They’re glorious. Showing age and use and they have bits missing from being removed from the roof, however are still totally decorative.
