The top compartment with the mirror has storage for tall bottles, etc. Alternatively it could take a shelf as the brackets where one originally was are still there, also the original holder on the back of the door for toothbrushes. 
The bottom compartment door flips down and allows space for smaller items, such as soap and small bottles.
