This is a totally unique piece of Folk Art. 
Made to hold a painters brushes, with a sliding lid that remains in place when carried with the very chunky ring handle.  The lid is dipped slightly in the middle as once the required brushes have been removed, the artist can perch on it as a seat while they paint! 
The owner has carved his/her initials into the front so there is no argument who it belongs to! 
A really unusual very cool box. Great to store a whole array of bits and pieces.
