This is a fabulously decorative piece. 
It is a French brass glove iron, which is mounted on a stand. 
It was designed to be heated and dates from 1940’s. Used by glovers to remove creasing in leather gloves after stitching, thus shaping and smoothing during manufacturing. They have only 4 fingers as the thumb was ironed separately. 
It has some typography stamped into the brass. A really interesting and striking conversation piece for the home.
