This altar candlestick is really the most exquisite candlestick! 
The base is very cathedralesque, then the stem carries on the grandeur with its columns and crown like top! As if this wasn’t enough it also still has the pricket that stands on the top to hold the tall thin church candle at the alter. 
There would originally have been a pair, one either side of the altar in a French church or cathedral.
