Early Victorian Mahogany Artists Water Colour Box

Early Victorian Mahogany Artists Water Colour Box

A superb early Victorian, circa 1850’s, mahogany artists water colour box by G. ROWNEY and Co of London.
With an age worn patina and ebony edging to the hinged lid. The interior has all the original fitted compartments and lids as well as a lovely little drawer in the base with a brass campaign type handle.
It opens up to reveal the original trade label which reads: G Rowney and Co Artists’ Colourmen, 51 Rathbone Place, London, an address in which they traded from 1817 to 1862.
A wonderful piece of antique British art history which can still be used today as it was originally intended, or would make a gorgeous and unusual jewellery case.
At almost 200 years old this is in beautiful condition.
Measurements: 24 x 20.5 x 8.5cm high
