This is a rare and unique piece of French history. 
Once standing in the church for the donation to be dropped in the slot in the top when someone wished to light a candle. It is unique in that it is hand made and probably the only one made like it. 
The patina is absolutely glorious and inside there’s some hand writing on the lid, that can’t quite be deciphered by us. The little catch is blacksmith made.
