Water Colour Guessing Possibly Christine Drummond Angus
This watercolour on card came from the home of Ambrose Heal, famed furniture maker and owner of Heals furniture store!
We believe it may possibly have been painted by the British illustrator Christine Drummond Angus.
Her work was incorporated in several pieces of the furniture designed by Ambrose Heal. Her designs often included illustrations of children. She was part of the arts and craft movement and one of her child designs was featured in the recognised “Joan’s Chair” an important piece in the arts and craft movement.
She was a friend of the Heals family and went to art college with Ambrose Heals’ wife Edith.
This may have been used for a children’s party, as it depicts a party game. It has been stored for many years in a trunk in the garage at the home of Ambrose Heal and because of this it has suffered some slight age related damage.
Still very lovely, decorative paintings.
