Dating from Circa. 1930’s.  Charlie McCarthy was made by the Reliable Doll Co. of Canada, he was modelled on the original dummy of Charlie McCarthy voiced by Edgar Bergen in the early 20th Century. Together they were superstars of stage and screen in the late 1930’s
This is just his head, he still moves his mouth, operated by the string attached. 
He has a great decorative look and is a fun piece to own.
