Originally from the Simpsons Hotel in Wallsend. The hotel stood opposite the Swan Hunter ship yard and offered basic accommodation for visiting engineers, transient shipyard workers and seamen. Hence the very strict rules!
Later in its life, the hotel bar had saloon style swing doors and because of the popular to series at the time Bonanza, it was nicknamed the Ponderosa!
The hotel was closed in 1981 and demolished in 1983.
