A glorious French Moutarde pot that at some point in its very long life has met with an unfortunate fate! 
Quite rightly, to save this beauty from extinction someone has lovingly taken time to piece it back together. Thank heavens! It has lived since the 1700’s and should carry on its life as long as possible. 
Obviously you can see the mends, which we call life lines, however if you are in the same mindset as us, you will agree add to its beauty. 
We haven’t tried but assume it won’t be watertight, so the flowers are stood in a stoneware jam jar inside the pot. As you can see in fits quite comfortably.
