Antique French Wooden Water Hod Late 1800’s-Early 1900’s
£130.00Price
This is a wonderfully rustic piece. It was originally used as a means for carrying water, milk or wine in mountain communities where carts could not easily get through.
It would have been soaked to make the wood swell, close all the gaps and so making it waterproof. It would then have had straps attached to the rings on the back of the hod and carried like a rucksack on the back.
The wood is a beautiful light colour , smooth and worn with use, perfect for using in the home for cushions and throws, logs, lots of loo rolls or carrying your wine!
