This glorious and unusual French provincial writing desk is absolutely exquisite. 
This would originally have been made for a country house not a city dwelling. 
It has stunning details, not least of all the hand blown glass in the door to the cupboard. Unusually it incorporates a bookshelf down one side with beautifully ornate brackets. 
Dating from around the turn of the 20th century the design has a very art nouveau feel.
The key is not the original and does not work the locks in the drawers, however works as a pull to open the drawers and the cupboard door. The two larger drawers have pulls. The overall it has a beautiful aged worn patina.
