This is an amazing piece, an unusual and rare find.

It is a French toleware lantern with a wonderful wooden handle. The candle would have been lit and it would have been carried though the streets as part of a church procession.

It has a gorgeous design and is hand painted with subtle decoration.

The lantern could be wall hung using a hook in the wall and sitting one of the little cutouts on the roof section, over it.
