This is a lovely little bronze tray that would just look so nice on a desk or hall table, to drop the keys in or hold all the pens, etc on your desk. 
It’s French in an Art Nouveau style and is quite heavy so would stay put. 
In a former life it has had a specific job as there are holes drilled in the four corners, it possibly displayed something like a clock or similar.
