A beautifully age stained Archer mug. 
These mugs are sometimes called archery mugs as they were purportedly used in archery competitions. They would’ve been used where there were many guests, such as a festival, a large gathering, competition or even a farm employing many labourers. 
The number was a way of finding your drink or mug amongst the many others. 
They are always just so very decorative and too nice to discard if damaged. 
This little treasure has lost its handle, has a chip in the rim and a crack at the back. On a shelf amongst other beautiful treasures, none of this would be seen as it would be at the back of the mug. 
Far too lovely to end its life.
