A gorgeous little lambing chair for a child, circa 1900. 
During lambing season the shepherd would sit overnight with the sheep to be on hand for births. So he would have an adult size one of these, and this one would be for the children that helped him during the lambing time. 
They rock obviously for comfort and they always have sides as in winged sides, to stop some of the cold draft from around the head.
They also sometimes incorporate a potty in the base of the seat, however this is the full seat. 
This one shows signs of its long age (see photos) however none of it is detrimental to the function or the use of the chair as it is still very strong.
