This glorious pair of candlesticks are altar candlesticks which would have adorned a table or altar at the top of the main aisle of the church. 
They’re very heavy being made from brass, (someone has previously cleaned a small area, which I have shown in the pics).
The stem is brass and marble. 
The candle dish has the traditional pricket style candle holder. 
They make a striking display, with or without candles.
