This is one of the nicest corbel shelves I have ever found. 
It is hand carved and has a definite feeling of being ecclesiastical. There are studs around the edge of the top and this makes me think it may have once in its lifetime had fabric, quite possibly velvet on the top, now long gone! 
A stunning little display shelf for showing off something special.
