A Grampian moving coil series microphone from the 1930’s. 
The serial number suggests a unit from the earlier, rarer production runs of these British microphones. 
We are unaware if this is in working order as we have no way of testing it, however it is a fabulously decorative piece, especially for a musician, DJ, broadcaster, singer or music lover. 
It has a heavy cast iron base. So would make a great paperweight on a music lovers desk. 
This model would have been used for public address, BBC speech and early tape recordings.
