18th Century Painting Depicting Sheep Oil on Fabric on Board
£150.00Price
A rustic rural scene featuring sheep set in a dim earthy landscape. Late 1800’s
Painted on fabric, quite possibly shirt fabric, commonly used for workwear, which is a cotton and wool blend, used by Union Shirts in the late 1800s.
The fabric has then been stretched and glued to what appears to be old shirt packaging. Which is a fairly common practice from around that time in history.
It has heavy craquelure consistent with a 19th century painting.
Extremely moody and decorative.
Measurements: 42 x 28cm high
